NEW REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT: PEETER PERE ARCHITECTS 2019

About

The workers’ residential area of the Russian-Baltic shipyard, which represents the economic upswing and industrial development of the Russian Empire at the beginning of the 20th century, has been one of the most prominent and integral one of its kind in Põhja-Tallinn. In the vicinity of the enterprise itself, the barracks – with walls of proper logs covered with lining boards – for workers were built.
Despite of their simplicity profiled doors, canopies with Art Nouveau twists and classical proportions were present. The area, which after the collapse of Soviet Union became the habitat for homeless people, is naturally beautiful with the escarpments descending towards the sea.
The establishment of new integral living environment started in 2018, altogether approximately 900 new homes will be established within the next 10 years.
Guided tours on Saturday and Sunday at 12:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 and 4:00 pm. Meeting on Sepa street (in front of the buildings Sepa 18, 20 and 24).
